Amina Elahi is a fresh transplant to Louisville, Ky., where she looks forward to applying her reporting skills to local stories. She is available for freelance assignments.

Most recently, she was a reporter at the Chicago Tribune’s Blue Sky Innovation section, where she covered entrepreneurship and innovation in Chicago.

Previously, Amina contributed to Chicago Grid (a Chicago Sun-Times publication), Popular Science, Built In Chicago and Sprout Social Insights. In addition to writing and editing, she enjoys photography, cooking and travel. Since 2013, she has fulfilled her goal of traveling abroad at least once a year (with trips to Malaysia, Hong Kong, Pakistan, Turkey, Thailand, Croatia and Canada).

Amina graduated from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in 2010 with degrees in journalism and psychology. While there, she was an editor at North by Northwestern and Al Bayan (which she co-founded).
