The raid on Abbottabad that killed Osama bin Laden will forever stand as a night filled with valor and shrouded in mystery. Unfortunately for the brave men of SEAL Team 6, “Code Word: Geronimo” falls short of honoring them.

I feel punny, oh so punny.
Everyone should know the golden rule of wedding attendance: Never wear the same color as the bride. Luckily for Sunday’s ladies in red, the event was the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards, not my wedding (or yours). Had it been, the inundation of scarlet stunners would have made for quite the faux pas.

Life moves fast. News moves faster. Four children and their bus driver were killed Tuesday when a gunman opened fire on their bus in Peshawar, Pakistan. The first weapon, a rocket-fired grenade, missed its target but subsequent use of AK-47 assault rifles killed five and sent another 18, including 15 children, to the hospital. Pakistan’s Taliban militants carried out the attack, perhaps in response to Osama bin Laden’s killing earlier this year.
Women like Mindy Kaling are the kind of role models young girls need.
With Steve Carrell out, the future of “The Office” seems shaky, to say the least. James Spader will take his place, but viewers may also be looking forward to the slew of guest stars NBC is bringing in to fill the void (John Groban is one of them, like, OMG).

Just call me Vannah White.
This evening, I hosted a live watch party of the Fashion for Compassion stream on the Divanee Facebook page. Considering this was our first such attempt (and shot only on an iPad), I’d say it went pretty damn well. The crowd in NYC looked like they were having a great time and I think those of us who chatted on Facebook did too. If you missed the video, you can watch it here.
Let the drummer kick.
YouTube is crawling with talent, and seems to be chock full of cover artists with creativity that flows unabated. While many stun us with their voices or inspire us with instrumentals, there are few who can do what Sarah Thawer can. The 17-year-old Canadian Indian has music in her blood, but certainly doesn’t fall in the shadow of her father Mehboob, who plays in his own band.

The old adage about friends is true — new is silver and old is gold. For Azeeza Desai Khan, this is good news.
Another week of disappointing news from the Subcontinent.
Life moves fast. News moves faster. Nepal’s parliament elected Baburam Bhattarai its new Prime Minister on August 28. Bhattarai is a prominent member of the country’s Maoist party; despite Bhattarai’s verbal commitment to a “national unity government,” Nepali Congress and Unified Marxist Leninist party members do not trust him or his party.
